“Nautical, please,” is what we have been hearing from so many of our followers lately. So, we are delighted to announce that your ship has arrived. Introducing our February’s First Friday collection: Sag Harbor. With deep sea hues and larger than life ocean friends, this classic collection will help you create a nursery or playroom fit for a sea captain!
We named our new collection after one of our favorite little towns in the Hamptons: Sag Harbor. We chose it for two reasons. First, we knew that in its early history, Sag Harbor was a thriving whaling port. And, we just happened to have created the biggest blue whale you ever did see in fabric wall decor. He’s as big as a bed! He might even entice a little someone you know to take a nice long nap! Thank you Mr. Whale.
And the second reason for our Sag Harbor name choice is that a very dear friend lives there. We are inspired by her style. She owns a wonderful little shop on Main Street. Sylvester & Co. Her shop is full of classic, yet modern wares, influenced by her aesthetic for timeless design. We think our nautical collection will bring that same feeling to your child’s new world.
Julianna is the ship captain for this collection. Although she grew up in the Texas hill country, she now lives a block from the port of Norfolk, Virginia, home to one of the largest naval bases in the world. So when our followers requested some nautical treasures, Jules was easily inspired while walking to see the ships sail with her salty sea dog, Tivoli. (Full disclosure: As you can see below, Tivs is still afraid to get too close to the tide, thus he is more of a salty sea scaredy-cat. Jules is still teaching him the joys of the sea.)
The color palette for the Sag Harbor collection includes blue and more blue … it is about the sea, after all. But we also punctuated the group with accents of red and yellow. With these colors in our paintbox, we could include a painterly interpretation of international maritime signal flags. We are offering them grouped as a print, as well as repositionable fabric wall decals. Imagine spelling your baby’s name in nautical flags above the changing table? Your little sailor might be able to read sea flags before the alphabet!
And we couldn’t resist designing some handsome nautical fashion to embroider upon our organic cotton One-for-Onezees™. For every onezee purchased, another is given to a child in need through the kind nurses at Any Baby Can. Thank you for helping us welcome new babies to the world with a soft “hello, we’re happy you are here.”
We are also excited about a fun collaboration with Monica + Andy, who will be carrying some of our wall decor in their pop-up shops this spring. They also carry lots of stylish baby pants and caps, (above) which pair perfectly with our soft organic One-for-Onezees™. We are very pleased to introduce you to our Warrick the Whale onezee, ready to dress little mariners from sea to shining sea. This little big whale can be personalized, too.
And, calling all adoring grandmas … imagine this welcome-home ensemble: Our Anchor’s Aweigh Organic Cotton Onezee with baby’s first monogram paired with a classic sailor-striped Coming Home Blanket by Monica + Andy. (The tiny little converse tennies might have to wait a few months.) But even in his socked feet, your new little one will be ready to navigate his first ventures into the big wide world with understated style.
So, happy First Friday to all! We hope that you enjoy our marine menagerie. And, we wish you smooth sailing and blue skies until our next port of call.
