Our trip to California ended with a fun surprise. We were able to visit my studio assistant from a few years ago, Leslie Lewis Sigler, who runs her own design studio now in Santa Barbara. She is also the go-to-source for creative and one-of-a-kind invitations and accessories by Lilly & Louise, as well as a fine painter. I wish I could say that she built her artistic talent from her years at Cathy Heck Studio, but, happily for us, she was gifted when she arrived. From Austin, Leslie, and her husband, Nathan, left Texas for sunny California where the lemon trees grow. In fact, she has a prolific lemon-producing tree right there in her front yard! One of my favorite series on her blog, is When Life Gives You Lemons. Since life actually gives Leslie lemons–real lemons and lots of them–she posts all kinds of recipes that she tries with her lemon crops. When we arrived at Leslie’s cheerful California home and studio, she gave us a basket of Santa Barbara treats, one of which was this perfect lemon from her tree. And, since life gave me one beauty of a lemon, I made an excellent glass of lemonade.
We couldn’t think of a better way to top off our visit to sunny California than an evening with Leslie and Nathan. Then, the week after we returned, we had so much fun reliving our visit to Leslie’s house and studio, when her home was featured on one of our favorite blogs, Design Sponge. You can be as inspired as we were by going to the link here. And, if you look carefully, you will see some artwork created by the co-writer of this very blog hanging in Leslie’s house. Hope you enjoy today’s juicy website links.
And, remember, if life gives you lemons, make things with them. Here are the recipes I plan to make from Leslie’s blog, but, of course, my lemons will have to come from the grocery store.
