Happy Day O’ Green

Green is the star color in the studio today! (Thank you branding team for St. Paddy!)

When I was little and someone asked “what is your favorite color?” I always answered, “green.” (It is sort of amusing that one would need to commit to one single color so early in life, but alas.) And, I totally bought into the idea that green was my color. I wore green clothes, green shoes, green hair ribbons, and I lived in a green bedroom complete with a green striped shag carpet. (I loved that carpet … and, by the way, I’ve seen hints that it might be trending again soon, just to warn you if your 6th-grader starts begging for one!)

After I became a grown-up, my favorite color shifted more toward chartreuse … (you can read a little story about my chartreuse friend here.) But for today, let’s celebrate all different greens and their verdant glory.

So, without further ado, as I look around the studio … I spy with my little Irish eye … something chartreuse and viridian, emerald and olive, pistachio and pickle, sage and … shamrock!

After looking around for all things green, I became curious about this color that is especially show-offy this Spring. So, I googled it. Look what I learned about it’s physical effects! Who knew? “What happens to your body in the presence of green? Your pituitary gland is stimulated. Your muscles are more relaxed, and your blood histamine levels increase, which leads to a decrease in allergy symptoms and dilated blood vessels, aiding in smoother muscle contractions. In short, green is calming, stress-relieving, and – a bit paradoxically – invigorating. It’s been shown to improve reading ability and creativity.” (And now that your reading ability has improved, you can read more about this second-most-favorite color here.)

And since you have been awash in this oh-so-green post, I hope you are feeling particularly calm and stress-free. Creative, too!

After looking at all those art supplies, I suddenly had a hankering to paint up a little something green. What better way to love on the green than with a St. Patrick’s day blessing for you.

And if you look carefully, you can find one lucky four-leaf clover hidden in the blessing … just a wee bit of luck for your day.

Wishing you a happy, safe … and shamrock-green St. Patrick’s Day!
