It’s First Friday at Mej Mej, and you deserve a treat or maybe a dozen. We’ve added a tasty new collection AND a new category. Many Minis. These are repeatable (and repositionable) fabric wall decals … they can be evenly gridded like wallpaper or scattered freely from floor to ceiing. This category is so versatile that you can use it in rooms for little ones or when they’re all grown-up and decorating their own dorm rooms. (Repositionable means they can be reconfigured during study breaks! I’ve heard that doing repetitive tasks adds to creativity and productivity. I think maybe even higher grades!)
The first collection that is entirely minis is called Yum, a delicious combination of sweet treats and hip bright colors. We plan to add many more groupings, but we thought you might like to enjoy dessert first.
You may wonder about the inspiration for this tasty offering. Of course, we had to do some very important research for this project. Trying cupcakes, tasting ice creams, testing sprinkles. It was hard work, but somebody’s gotta do it.
The cupcake search was a particularly challenging job, because there are so many excellent offerings in both Austin and Norfolk. Here are some photos from our grueling taste testing. Julianna is shown observing the sweet packaging from Just Cupcakes in Virginia Beach while Cathy is slaving away at Hey Cupcake! in Austin. Oh dear, I’m getting hungry just talking about it. Note to self: never write a blog post about cupcakes at lunchtime.
View the result of this extensive cupcake study below. You can see that we embraced a bright and punchy color palette because it’s so much fun for decorating fresh spaces for the young and the young-at-heart. We can imagine this group in a play room or a dorm room, a play house or a beach house.
And don’t worry. We have some excellent healthy offerings, too … jam packed with Vitamin C (for cuteness). Here’s a fun recipe: Pick your favorite citrusy color story … grapefruit, orange or lemon. Add a cold pillow. Sweet dreams.
The aesthetic for this group is modern, crisp and fun. The lively textures of silkscreen and letterpress add a contemporary look to the group. You can see the handprinted character here in some of the frozen fruit pops. Pair these with a chunky oversized gingham throw pillow and you have a room fit for a very cool princess.
Hope you enjoy our delicious new confections for May and that you have fun creating your own delectable spaces and places. And remember the old saying with our new twist: “Life is short. Decorate with dessert first.”
P.S. We hope you have a SUPER DUPER springtime! Yes, we just had to include some speech bubbles to add a little spice to all the sweetness. :-)
